Shepherd of the Desert is a full engagement community. Our students are actively involved in the life of our school, and our faculty and staff support student activities. Together, we work to provide the best educational opportunities and experiences for our students.
PATS (Parents and Teachers of Saints)
In addition to our students and staff, parents are an essential component to the overall community of Shepherd of the Desert. Whether it’s helping in the classroom, volunteering for library time or field trips, serving on boards, or helping with fundraisers and social activities, parents are present in our school every day. PATS, our parent-teacher organization, is designed to help our school build community. The main function of PATS is to organize events and support students, parents, staff and teachers as we work together toward the vision of our school. All parents, staff and teachers are welcome to plan, participate and/or attend any and all events. PATS sponsors or assists with the following:
- New Family BBQ
- First Day of School “Welcome Back Coffee”
- Thanksgiving Feast
- Advent Dinner
- Teacher Appreciation Week
- Grandparents’ and Special Friends’ Day
- Staff Appreciation Gifts
- Book Fair
- School Auction
Our school also benefits from our partnership with Shepherd of the Desert Lutheran Church. In addition to several worship opportunities throughout the week, the church hosts other social and fellowship events such as Advent and Lenten Dinners, Bible studies, parenting classes, movie nights, etc. In addition to hosting events, church members actively pray for our students and help them attend our school through financial contributions. If you would like more information, please contact the church at 480-860-1188 or visit their website at sotdaz.org.
